What does it mean to heal when a cure isn’t guaranteed?
Serenity Rising is the podcast for people living with cancer, chronic illness, and those walking alongside someone they love. Created in the third space between science and soul, evidence and experience.
Hosted by Bron Watson, a registered nurse, educator, and two-time cancer survivor living with incurable Multiple Myeloma, each episode blends research-backed insight with honest, lived wisdom.
No toxic positivity. No hustle. Just real conversation about the human experience of navigating illness with courage, clarity, and compassion.
From expert interviews to fireside Q&As, Serenity Rising explores the emotional, psychological, and deeply personal side of living with cancer. The parts your medical team rarely has time to address.
Because healing isn’t about reaching a finish line. It’s about finding peace in the journey itself.
Where moments make memories, and memories are how we make every day count.

In this solo episode of Serenity Rising, Bron steps back into the early weeks following her own second cancer diagnosis and shares what she would tell herself now, three years on. This is not a highlight reel of resilience. It is an honest, practical letter to the version of Bron sitting in a doctor’s office, and to anyone listening today who is sitting in their own version of that room.
In this episode, Bron explores:
- The nervous system’s response to shock, and why what you are feeling is protection, not weakness
- The liminal space between an abnormal result and the start of treatment, and why the waiting is its own kind of hard
- The fishbowl metaphor, and why stirring the water only makes the fear muddier
- Sleep disruption and decision fatigue in the early weeks, and small, workable ways through both
- A equals A, a simple tool for separating what actually happened from the story the mind builds around it
- The permission slip every newly diagnosed person deserves to be handed
- The difference between healing and curing, and why healing is available to everyone, regardless of prognosis
This episode draws directly from Bron’s free ebook, When Everything Changed: Finding Calm in the First Days After Diagnosis, translating its frameworks into a spoken, fireside conversation. Wherever you are in your own story today, in the waiting, the stirring, or the not knowing, this episode is for you.
Make every day count, my friends.

Meet Your Host ~ Bron Watson
Bron Watson is the host of the Serenity Rising podcast, a space born from lived experience rather than theory. After hearing the words “yes, it’s cancer” not once but twice—and learning the second time that her cancer was chronic, not curable—Bron chose a different way forward. Drawing on her background as a nurse, businesswoman, and mother of five, she shares what it means to live gently and honestly in the midst of uncertainty. Serenity Rising isn’t about fighting or fixing, but about learning to breathe again, sit with the hard emotions, and choose healing of the mind and spirit alongside the body. Through thoughtful conversations and reflections, Bron invites listeners to discover serenity—not as denial, but as a grounded, compassionate way of living fully, even when life doesn’t go as planned.
