Community Guidelines
Welcome to The Serenity Project — a sanctuary where evidence meets perspective, and where every person is treated with dignity and kindness. These guidelines are here to protect the supportive energy of our community and ensure it remains a safe, welcoming, and respectful space for all.
- Share with Care
We all carry tender and important stories. Please share yours in ways that invite connection rather than overwhelm. Honesty is welcome, but we ask that language is thoughtful and respectful of others’ emotional space.
- Uplift, Even in Difficult Times
We acknowledge that hard days are part of life with illness. It is okay to share challenges here, but we ask that posts invite support, reflection, or encouragement rather than becoming a place for ongoing complaint. This is a space for moving gently forward, even when things are not easy.
- Respect Privacy and Boundaries
What is shared here, stays here. Protecting confidentiality ensures trust and safety for everyone. Please do not share medical advice or personal treatment recommendations — every healing path is unique, and medical decisions belong with each individual and their healthcare team.
- Value Every Journey
Whether you are living with curable or incurable cancer, navigating chronic illness, or caring for someone you love — your place here is valid and valued. No journey is greater or lesser than another. We walk side by side, respecting each person’s unique experience.
- Honour Lived Experience
This is a space for presence and compassion, not platitudes. We encourage responses that acknowledge and affirm: “I hear you,” “You are not alone,” or “That sounds hard.” Advice is not expected or required.
- Choose Respectful Communication
Criticism, shaming, or aggressive language will not be accepted. Please speak as if you are addressing someone you care deeply about, recognising the vulnerability of those who share here.
- Inclusive and Respectful of Beliefs
Members may wish to share personal, cultural, or spiritual practices. These are always welcome as invitations, not expectations. We respect the diversity of perspectives in this community.
- Look Out for Each Other
If you notice someone struggling, or if a post feels unsafe, please report it. Our moderators will handle it with care and discretion. If you are personally in crisis, we will provide resources and encourage reaching out to professional support — because every member deserves more than a comment thread in those moments.
- Moderation with Compassion
Our moderation team is here to protect safety and uphold the values of the community. If a post or comment falls outside our guidelines, a gentle reminder may be given. Repeated issues may result in removal, but always handled with professionalism and respect.
- Evolving Together
As our community grows, our guidelines may evolve too. Members will always be part of shaping that process, ensuring this remains a safe and uplifting space for everyone.
In summary: The Serenity Project is not a place for playing victim or for ongoing complaint. It is a place for authenticity, connection, and courage — where we meet each other with honesty, respect, and a shared commitment to creating serenity in the midst of life’s challenges.
