Meet The Founder of The Serenity Project
Where Everything Changed…
On 23 February 2023, I sat in a doctor’s room and heard the words no one wants to hear: yes, it’s cancer.
You see, this wasn’t the first time. Five years earlier, I had already walked through the chaos of diagnosis, surgery, chemotherapy, and the long shadow of “scanxiety.” In fact, I was at the stage of being ‘cured’, the five-year blessing and release kind of moment.
But the second time was different. This time, there was no cure. I was told my cancer was a chronic disease, something to be managed, not erased.
In those weeks and months of crying, of treatment and searching the skies for answers, I realised something profound: there had to be another way to live through this chaos. Not fighting. Not pretending. Not rushing. Not trying to fix everything. Just… finding a way to breathe again.
That’s when The Serenity Project was born.
What The Serenity Project Is
The Serenity Project is not a checklist, a cure, or a quick fix. It’s a way of being—a calm, permission-giving space for people navigating cancer, chronic illness, or caring for someone they love.
We ask the quiet questions:
Is there still space for life, meaning, and grace in the middle of all this?
Here, the answer is yes, of course there is! It’s taken me a while to find it, but find it I have.
The Serenity Project offers you a new way to think about your world and body, tools, practical ways to find serenity, one moment at a time plus a community to help you find what I call your Blue Line—your internal GPS that recalibrates when life throws you sharp turns.
It’s not about perfection or constant positivity. It’s about returning, again and again, to moments of clarity, calm, and self-compassion.
Because moments, make memories and that way, we make everyday count.
Why This Matters
As a nurse, businesswoman, and mother of five, I thought I understood resilience.
But it wasn’t until cancer stopped me in my tracks—twice—that I discovered the power of serenity.
Serenity isn’t about ignoring fear, sadness, or anger. It’s about learning to sit with these feelings, letting the muddy water settle until you can see clearly again. It’s about choosing healing—not only of the body, but of the mind and spirit.
This isn’t a movement about “fighting” cancer. It’s about living fully, gently, and authentically through it.
At the heart of The Serenity Project is the Serenity Prayer that has carried me through the darkest of days:
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The courage to change the things I can,
And the wisdom to know the difference.
(And if “God” isn’t your word, replace it with whatever feels true—Universe, Source, Love, or even Dennis. This is about your serenity, not mine.)
An Invitation
If you’re here, chances are you’ve had your own “when everything changed” moment. You may be feeling lost, overwhelmed, or quietly asking: How do I move forward from here?
The Serenity Project exists for you.
To remind you that you are not broken.
To give you space to pause and breathe.
To help you find your own way of healing—unique, resilient, and deeply yours.
Serenity isn’t a destination. It’s a practice. And you don’t have to live it alone.
